Nozori Games Indie Team consists of two people, Noasaki and Orizori. It was founded in 2018.
In 2023, we released a new episode of our previous episodic game, Guilty Parade, which angered a segment of our fanbase known as yaoi fangirls (fans who enjoy gay couples or fantasies about them in the media). The reason for this was that their favorite character was not gay. For months, we faced an onslaught of offensive comments and memes on our social media, including death threats and explicit images of their favorite gay couple, along with demands to alter the game’s plot to meet their preferences. They even created hate groups where they spread false rumors by posting fake screenshots and leaked paid content. The yaoi fangirls organized a campaign on TikTok to downgrade the game’s rating on Google Play. We were faced with a choice: to either succumb to the pressure or to continue our work on the game regardless of the backlash. We chose to continue.
Having observed the behavior of the haters and experienced mass cyberbullying firsthand, we decided to channel this experience into a work of fiction.
Our game, I Hate My Waifu Streamer, serves as an experimental playground where players can explore both sides of fandom — fans and haters — and dive into the depths of internet streaming culture without causing real harm to individuals.
